I hope everything is going on well. As an English learner from China, I
oftenfmd it challenging to translate Chinese cultural concepts into English, such as hongbao bainian.
Deeply rooted in our traditions, these terms bear typical Chinese traditional ideas and are not easily
conveyed in another language. I really can't find accurate and proper English words to translate them.
Could you please give me some advice on how to effectively communicate these cultural-specific
ideas to foreigners? Your insights would be greatly appreciated.

It's nearly one year since I last wrote you. I've been encountering
difficulties in explaining traditional Chinese cultural concepts to my English-speaking friends. Words like
“红包 ” and “ 拜年 “ are not easily understood by foreigners. These cultural terms often lack direct
equivalents in English, making it challenging to convey their meaning accurately.
Do you have any suggestions for translating such terms in a way that is more comprehensible to
international friends? Your expertise in both languages would be incredibly helpful.
